Murder Hornet is back!
One of our most requested rotating releases every year, Murder Hornet returns as the centerpiece of this month's Solitary Society guided tasting. At 9%+ ABV, double dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, and Idaho 7, and bone dry from start to finish, it's exactly as aggressive as the name suggests. White grape up front, a wave of passionfruit and grapefruit through the middle, and a finish loaded with tropical fruit and clean ethanol. The malt gets out of the way entirely. This beer is all hops.
The tasting will center on drinkability — specifically what that word actually means when you're talking about a Triple IPA. What separates a big beer that's genuinely enjoyable to drink from one that's just a statement? How do dryness, hop character, and high ABV shape the experience in the glass? Murder Hornet makes for a compelling case study, and we'll be breaking it down together.
This event is open to Solitary Society members only.
First time hearing about Murder Hornet? The name comes from the Asian giant hornet — and yes, we get questions about it. You can read the full details here
