Lignaria Lager

One of the dreams of lager brewing is to brew the softest, most refreshing, most drinkable beer imaginable with a delicate balance derived from the interplay of the finest malted barley and hops. Atop that pinnacle sits the Munich-style helles lager, in particular Lignaria Lager.

Lignaria Lager is brewed from high quality Bojos and Malz barley varieties, malted in Bamberg, Germany. This malt gives it a clean, light base with a hint of breadiness in the finish that adds depth to what is on the surface a simple recipe. To pair with the pilsner malt we, selected Hallertau Tradition hops. Bred from the landrace varieties that put German brewing on the map, Tradition hits modern agronomic metrics while carrying on the noble hop aroma characteristics of its forebears: spice and floral elements with a delicate bitterness. We tie this all together with a long, slow fermentation from our classic German lager yeast that gives us the clean, low-ester fermentation we need to let the base shine.

For all the care, thoughtfulness and centuries of tradition that go into brewing this beer, Lignaria Lager is the kind of beer you can enjoy any time. Light and refreshing for a day at the lake, smooth enough to pair with any meal, and finely tuned to withstand close inspection as part of your pilgrimage to the Watts taproom. Grab a pint with your friends and experience it for yourself!

Lignaria Lager is named after Osmia lignaria, also known as the blue orchard bee, which is the species of mason bee native to the Pacific northwest. The Watts family raises these mason bees for commercial pollination and for home gardeners as well! Blue orchard bees are an essential source of pollination for orchard crops such as apples, pears, cherries, and almonds.
