Fluffy Dog
Vulpine Taproom Collab
Last April we brewed a beer with our friends at Vulpine Taproom to celebrate their grand opening, a delightful brown ale we dubbed “Lazy Dog.” Well despite opening during a pandemic, they’re doing well and asked us to brew another beer with them. Something bigger. Something better. Something … fluffier.
We’d like you to meet the Fluffy Dog.
Inspired by last spring’s brew, we took that recipe and turned it up a notch, ramping up both the body and the alcohol. This beer clocks in at 6.5% ABV with layers of English-style pale ale, crystal and brown malts. But the really unique twist is the addition of rye malt. Rye—as opposed to barley, which the rest of our malts are made from—contributes a distinctive bready, black pepper quality to the finish, and also serves to amp up the body of this beer. Rye is naturally high in beta glucans and proteins, both of which contribute to the beer’s viscosity, head retention, and—to use a rather technical term—fluffiness.
Fluffy Dog will be available exclusively at Vulpine Taproom while supplies last. Considering they bought a full batch of our beer, we expect this to be available through the winter, but considering how fast you drank the last batch we brewed for them we’re not making any promises.
