Green Dragon Finest Ale

BOB V2 Square.png

On the western edge of Bywater, less than a mile from Hobbiton, sits a house of high repute known to travelers across the Shire as the Green Dragon Inn. Though a right comfortable place to sit, with it’s sturdy timbers and warm, flickering candlelight, what draws hobbits to its door is the finest ale this side of the Brandywine (and probably a good ways beyond, if you’re one to wander).

The house ale of the Green Dragon Inn is brewed to the highest standard of quality anywhere in the Shire.  Malts are hand selected for the plumpest kernels and the richest flavor. Only the finest hops are used from the sunny hills in the Westfarthing, where they’ve grown since the days of old Fortinbras Took. Even the barm is said to be enchanted by the elves themselves, if you can believe such tales.

Now I’m sure I need not recount to you the merits of this fine ale. There isn’t a hobbit in the Shire past the age of eleventeen who hasn’t been warmed by a frothy mug or two. Pushing ones nose deep into the perfumed foam for a gulp of the hearty red-gold liquid beneath—like fresh baked barley loaf with a crown of treacle—is not an experience one is apt to forget. Nor fail to repeat.

Available now for the first time outside the round wooden door of the Green Dragon, we are proud to bring Green Dragon Finest Ale to you in collaboration with Zulu’s Boardgame Cafe. We will be revealing the beer there on June 16th alongside the international release of Magic the Gathering’s Lord of The Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth. If you’re one prone to adventures, you can join the Fellowship in their quest to banish the darkness threatening Middle Earth with events from 6 pm to close.

However if you’re a respectable Hobbit such as myself, might I suggest you pull up a chair and join me for a mug of ale? Keep your nose out of trouble and no trouble will come to you, if you catch my meaning. You can drink your fancy ales, you can drink them by the flagon, but the only brew for the brave and true comes from the Green Dragon.
