About Watts Brewing Company
Born in the dorm rooms of Pomona College and nurtured beneath the evergreens of Bothell, Watts Brewing Company is the joyful capitulation to what some would call a "hobby" and others an obsession with all things beer.
Like many craft brewers before him, Founder and Head Brewer, Evan Watts, brewed his first batch of beer over a turkey-fryer in his driveway. It wasn't very good. Undeterred, Evan brewed another batch, and then another... If you give a mouse a cookie, he'll want a glass of milk to go with it. If you teach a man to brew, he'll want a brewery to go with it. After a few years, a couple of (thousand) batches, and some exhaustive product testing on unsuspecting family members, friends, and colleagues, that brewery is here; the second-hand, Frankenstein brewing kit has given way to a custom-built 1 bbl brewhouse with enough precision to make a German blush.
We are a production brewery, meaning no taproom. Look for our beers on tap at bars and restaurants in the Bothell area.
Nihilist...just kidding. At Watts Brewing, we believe that good beer does not need to be an acquired taste. Whether you normally prefer exotic imported ales, watered-down beer, or actual water, anyone can appreciate when a beer just tastes good.
But how do you build that beer? That's the crux of it. Each of the great brewing cultures has approached this puzzle in their own way, with the the ingredients at hand. With the benefit of hindsight, we can take inspiration from these beers, weaving our favorite elements together into a nuanced tapestry of flavor, crafted from our own local ingredients: the world class hops, malts, and water of the Pacific northwest. Our beers are unique yet familiar, appealing both in their clean, coherent flavor and their subtle depth. We hope you enjoy drinking them as much as we enjoy brewing them.
